Yes! We believe that access to quality mental health care shouldn't feel out of reach. To help make therapy more accessible, we reserve a limited number of sliding scale appointments for clients experiencing financial hardship. These spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the cost of therapy is keeping you from reaching out, please don't let that stop you from contacting us. If our sliding scale openings are currently full, we're happy to help connect you with trusted local resources or referrals that better fit your needs and budget. Our goal is to help you find the support you deserve.

We want paying for therapy to be as simple as possible. Our secure online portal accepts most major credit and debit cards, including many HSA and FSA cards that function like a standard payment card. You'll securely save your payment information before your first appointment, and your card will be charged automatically after each session.
Calia Counseling is an out-of-network provider, meaning we are not contracted with insurance companies.
We know that may not be the answer everyone hopes for, so we'd love to explain why.
Choosing to remain out of network allows us to focus on what matters most… you. It gives us the flexibility to tailor treatment to your individual needs rather than the requirements of an insurance company, and it allows us to spend our time providing care instead of navigating insurance approvals, session limits, and forced diagnoses.
If you'd like to use your out-of-network benefits, we're happy to help. We can provide a monthly superbill, which is an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. Session fees are paid at the time of service, and any reimbursement is processed directly between you and your insurance provider.
Before your first appointment, we recommend calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. Helpful questions to ask include:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What percentage of each therapy session is reimbursed?
Have I met my deductible?
How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?
One important thing to know: if you choose to seek insurance reimbursement, your insurance company will require a mental health diagnosis to be included on your superbill. If you'd rather keep your mental health information entirely private from your insurance company, paying privately is always an option.

Life happens… we truly get it. Unexpected illnesses, work emergencies, family obligations, and the occasional scheduling mix-up are part of being human. Because of that, your first last-minute cancellation is on us. We believe in extending grace when life throws you a curveball.
After that first courtesy cancellation, the following policy applies:
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $100 late cancellation fee.
If you do not attend your scheduled appointment and do not notify your therapist within the first 10 minutes of your session start time, the appointment will be considered a no-show, and the full session fee of $150 will be charged.
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows make it difficult to offer that time to another client who may be waiting for an appointment.

Every client's journey is unique, and we'll work together to find a schedule that best supports your goals. We typically recommend starting with weekly sessions for the first 4 weeks, as this allows us to build a strong therapeutic relationship, gain momentum, and begin making meaningful progress.
After those first few weeks, we'll check in together and decide what makes the most sense moving forward. Many clients continue meeting weekly, while others transition to every other week as they begin to feel more confident in the tools and progress they've made. Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and your schedule can evolve along with your needs.
-
Yes. Creating a safe, trusting space is one of the most important parts of therapy, and protecting your privacy is something we take seriously. What you share during our sessions is confidential, and before we begin working together, you'll receive an informed consent document that explains your privacy rights and how your information is protected.
There are a few situations where therapists are legally and ethically required to break confidentiality. These include:
Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, older adult, or vulnerable adult
If there is an immediate risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else
When disclosure is otherwise required by law
If one of these situations were ever to arise, we'll talk through the process with you. Our goal is always to approach these situations with compassion, transparency, and respect while prioritizing everyone's safety.
Therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be honest. We want you to know that this is a space where your story will be treated with care, respect, and without judgment.
-
The honest answer is- it depends. Every person's story, goals, and circumstances are different, so there's no "right" timeline for therapy.
Some clients come to therapy with a specific challenge they'd like to work through over the course of a few months. Others choose to continue longer as they navigate life transitions, build new skills, or simply value having a consistent space for support and growth.
Our goal isn't to keep you in therapy forever. It's to help you gain the insight, tools, and confidence to navigate life both inside and outside of our sessions. We'll regularly check in on your progress together, celebrate your growth, and adjust your treatment plan as your needs evolve.
Therapy is your journey, and we'll collaborate every step of the way to determine what feels most helpful for you.
